Unity Health System Receives VHA Leadership Award for Supply Chain Management Excellence
VHA Inc., the national health care network, has awarded Unity Health System the 2013 VHA Leadership Award for Supply Chain Management Excellence. Unity was honored for improving the efficiency of its supply processes and reducing costs to help ensure delivery of quality patient care.
VHA is a national network of more than 1,350 not-for-profit hospital systems and 72,000 non-acute facilities that work together to achieve new levels of clinical performance and operational efficiency.
Unity Health System was one of 11 VHA member hospitals this year to receive a Leadership Award for Supply Chain Management Excellence.
The VHA Leadership Award for Supply Chain Management Excellence recognizes organizations that have implemented changes over the last 12 to 18 months to enhance their supply chain in one of two areas:
· Sourcing and resource management processes – Criteria include product selection, contracting, procurement, standardization and utilization.
· Distribution, logistics and inventory management – Criteria include impact on quality, service, outcomes and overall return on investment.
Unity was one of three organizations that were awarded for documenting the highest level of improvement during 2012 using VHA PriceLYNXTM, an industry-leading business intelligence platform that fuels cost reduction objectives with rich analytics, contract support and advisory services.
By recognizing institutions for their commitment and achievements, VHA hopes that other health systems will apply these leading practices in their own organizations to further enhance the overall level of quality in our nation’s health care system.
