Diabetes Education

Diabetes Education Programs at Unity Health System are designed to help you create a self-management plan that is tailored to fit your lifestyle and special needs. Our certified diabetes educators help you learn to monitor your diabetes, select and prepare tasty foods, deal effectively with stress and illness, and make enjoyable physical activity part of your routine.

It's not surprising that some patients say, "diabetes is the best thing to happen to me. It made me take better care of myself and now I feel great." We're here to help transition a difficult diagnosis into a positive life-change.

Individual sessions and group programs are offered. Please call (585) 254-4152 for more information or to set up an appointment.

Nutrition Education

An initial consultation with a registered dietitian is the first step in providing education for your nutritional needs. Together, we will determine the best foods for you to eat and you will receive practical advice on meal planning, dining out, and grocery shopping. The dietitian will assist you in setting goals and solving trouble spots.

Nutrition education is available for high cholesterol and heart disease, high blood pressure, food intolerances, digestive disorders, kidney disease, poor nutrition, and eating disorders.
