Vijay Jain, M.D.
A nephrologist, Dr. Vijay Jain has been treating patients with kidney disease since 1980. Many of his patients have been coming to him for years, so it’s no wonder there’s a family atmosphere at Unity Health System’s Park Ridge and St. Mary’s Campus dialysis centers. Now the “family” at the St. Mary’s Campus is enjoying a brand new home: the Andrew J. Kirch Dialysis Center which offers enhanced comfort, convenience, and privacy. Unity designed the facility with dialysis patients’ unique needs in mind.
“Dialysis takes a significant amount of our patients’ time,” Dr. Jain explains, with each session lasting three to four hours. A comfortable facility is important to Dr. Jain and the staff – and appreciated by patients. “I’ve heard a lot of ‘Wows’” Dr. Jain says. “There’s definitely a more upbeat attitude among patients and the staff.”
The new center features private patient treatment areas, remote-control TVs with headphones to help pass the time, patient lockers, and a large, comfortable waiting area. The center has its own parking area and a separate entrance.
Assuring patient comfort is important to overall health. “You have to have a positive outlook to cope with a chronic illness,” Dr. Jain explains. “A more positive attitude means you’re better able to take care of yourself and cope with your illness, which results in better medical outcomes.” A beautiful new facility, happier and healthier patients – what else can you say but, “Wow”?
