"Patient Safety" is the outcome of doing things right. It defines a good hospital in the eyes of the patient, and needs to be part of the fabric of the organization and our commitment to customer service.
We aim to be recognized by the public as a hospital with systems and processes designed to minimize factors that contribute to unanticipated events/clinical outcomes (health care errors/preventable complications).
Patients and families are partners in this effort. To foster this culture we must:
- Obtain input from patients, families, and staff related to unsafe practices or safety concerns.
- Encourage patients and their families to become active participants in their health care.
- Develop and publish metrics and educational materials to communicate hospital-specific performance.
