Unity Health System is a 2006 recipient of the eHealthcare Leadership Awards for outstanding websites.  Unity’s “Care to Compare” received the eHealthcare Leadership Gold Award for Best Quality Communication. The awards recognize exceptional websites in the healthcare industry.  Unity is among 220 organizations recognized out of more than 1100 entries this year.

“We designed ‘Care to Compare’ with the consumer in mind,” said Maryalice Keller, vice president of Corporate Communications at Unity Health System.  “We are pleased to be recognized for our efforts to make information about our health system and the care we provide easily available to people who are concerned about quality of care.”

Launched in 2003, “Care to Compare” is an online resource available to the community at www.unityhealth.org.  Data regarding patient volumes, clinical outcomes and satisfaction in 21 areas, is updated quarterly on the website.  Unity is the only local health system to publish such comprehensive outcomes.

The winning sites were compared with others in their organization’s classification.  The eHealthcare Leadership Awards program was developed and first presented in 1999 by eHealthcare Strategy & Trends, a leading internet resource, published by Healthcare Communcations.  

 Unity Health System is a 681-bed health care network serving the city of Rochester and western Monroe County.  Services include acute care, psychiatry and behavioral health, physical medicine and rehabilitation, primary care and family medicine, continuing care, housing, laboratory, occupational health, and child care services.
