Mary Dombovy, M.D. has been medical director of Unity’s Acute Rehab & Brain Injury Program since its inception in 1989. Known nationally for her expertise in rehabilitation for stroke and brain injury, she was awarded a grant from the University of Rochester for researching early intervention of traumatic brain injury.

Dr. LiVecchi specializes in neurologic rehabilitation.
Prior to joining Unity, Dr. LiVecchi was medical director of the Acute Rehabilitation Unit at Geneva General Hospital, Geneva, New York for eight years.
He is a retired medical officer in the New York Air National Guard where he served as officer in charge of physical examinations and standards.
Education: State University of New York at Brooklyn College of Medicine; Doctorate of dentistry—University of Kentucky College of Dentistry.
Residency: Internal Medicine—Highland Hospital; Strong Memorial Hospital, where he served as chief resident.

Dr. Schieber is an attending physician for the Unity Acute Rehabilitation & Brain Injury Program, where he works directly with patients as well as providing general neurology consultation.
An associate professor of Neurology, Neurobiology and Anatomy, Brain and Cognitive Sciences, and Visual Sciences at the University of Rochester, Dr. Schieber has research interests and expertise on the topic of motor control. He is particularly interested in how the brain controls hand and finger movements. Dr. Schieber is also a primary investigator on several National Institute of Health grants.

Residency: Neurology, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts.

Cecilia Lim Ransom, M.D.

Dr. Ransom specializes in neuro-musculoskeletal rehabilitation care, inpatient rehabilitation of neurologic disorders, amputee care, and electromyography services.
She has been a physiatrist for at St. Vincent Health Center and Tri-State Spine & Rehab, in Erie, Pennsylvania. She also served as a physiatrist and chief of Extended Care and Rehabilitation at VA Northern Indiana Healthcare System in Marion/Fort Wayne, Indiana. In addition, she has experience as a clinical director at Integra Healthcenter, LLC in Indianapolis, Indiana, and as medical director for Rehabilitation Services and Transitional Care at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana.

Dr. Gaudette has been a neuropsychologist with the Unity Acute Rehabilitation & Brain Injury Program since 1993. He is also a clinical faculty member in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
His clinical interests include rehabilitation neuropsychology, neuroplasticity in brain injury recovery, and cognitive rehabilitation.
Education: Doctor of Psychology, Clinical Psychology—Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Internship: Clinical Psychology, with emphasis in Neuropsychology—West Haven-Yale VA Medical center
Fellowship: Neuropsychology—University of Rochester Medical Center, Rochester, New York.

William N. Schneider, Ph.D.

Dr. Schneider has been a neuropsychologist for the Unity Acute Rehabilitation & Brain Injury Program since its opening in 1989. He has special expertise in pediatric neuropsychological assessment and pediatric brain injury and has a clinical faculty appointment in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
Dr. Schneider’s clinical interests include rehabilitation neuropsychology, behavioral management of the brain injured, and psychopharmacological treatment in traumatic brain injury.
Education: Ph.D. degree in clinical psychology from the Rosemead School of Psychology in California.
Internship: Pine Rest Christian Hospital, Grand Rapids, Michigan; Rehabilitation and Neuropsychology—University of Michigan Medical Center.
Memberships: American Psychological Association, International Neuropsychological Society, The National Academy of Neuropsychology.

Dr. Wong has been the director of Neuropsychology for Unity’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation since 1991. He is also an Associate Professor of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Rochester.
His clinical and research emphases include mild head injury/postconcussive syndrome, sports-related concussion, brain injury, neuropsychological assessment, and cross-cultural factors in neuropsychological assessment and intervention.
Education: Ph.D.—University of Southern California.
Fellowship: Clinical Neuropsychology—University of Rochester Medical Center, Rochester, New York.
Memberships: The National Academy of Neuropsychology (Fellow), the American Psychological Association (Division of Clinical Neuropsychology) and the International Neuropsychological Society.
