Announce New Partnership
Collaboration Provides Enhanced Health Outreach Services to the Community
Rochester, N.Y. (September 19, 2008) - Unity Health System and Total Sports Experience (TSE) announced today a new partnership that will provide health information and screenings to be delivered to the Rochester families an accessible and innovative way. The partnership, which includes renaming the facility Unity Health System Total Sports Experience, will commence a program to provide ongoing free health information and screenings to those who visit the facility for its recreational and family-oriented activities.
“Our sports facility was built to provide healthy recreational activities to adults and children throughout our region,” said Andrew Gallina, president and founder of Total Sports Experience. “The partnership with Unity will allow us to offer even more health benefits to our patrons. In essence, it’s combining the fun activities our members and their families enjoy, with the health information and services the community needs.”
“Our collaboration with TSE confirms Unity’s commitment to make health services and information easily accessible to our community,” added Timothy R. McCormick, CEO of Unity Health System. “We see this partnership as an opportunity to engage more people in positive health care experiences, by bringing our expertise into a community environment.”
Beginning in October, Unity will offer free health screenings, information and educational seminars at TSE. The first series of free outreach programs includes:
- Saturday, October 18: A celebration of Red Ribbon Week provided by Unity Chemical Dependency, with information for parents and activities for children and teens that promote drug-free lifestyles.
- Monday, October 20: Safety strategies and healthy treats for parents planning trick-or-treating and other Halloween activities. Fun games for children who attend.
- Sunday, November 9: Information for adults regarding sports-related injuries provided by the Joint Replacement Center at Unity Hospital.
- Saturday, November 22 and Sunday, November 23: Practical and easy tips for healthy holiday meals from Unity Diabetes Center’s team of registered dieticians
